Shivapuri National Park is the nearest national park from the capital city Kathmandu. It is the ninth national park in Nepal. It has area of 159 km2 (61 sq mi). It lies on three districts – Kathmandu, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk. People visit the park for hiking, picninc, cycling, camping etc.
The park is protected by the National Government and armymen are mobilised in the park. The National park has been the major water resource for the Kathmandu valley. Rivers like Nagmati, Bagmati, Syalmati, Bishnumati and their tributaries flow from the Shivapuri park.
The Shivapuri park is also known as Shivapuri Nagarjun park. Because the whole park is the combination of two hills Shivapuri and Nagarjun. As this park is nearest from the capital city lots of visitors are coming daiy here. People come for hiking, sigh seeing, refreshment, picnic, camping etc. The park also allows for the bike riding and cycling with certain cost. Lucky people can also have a sight if rare birds, deers and even leopards.

How to reach Shivapuri National Park
The park is in the north of the Kathmandu valley. The bus operates from both old and new buspark. The bus takes north from the Chakrapath and moves towards Budanilkantha. The local bus stops at Narayanthan. From there around half hour walk and you can reach the park.
