It is a full exploration day in Kathmandu. You will go for a cultural sightseeing tour of Heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley. We go for an in-depth and guided tour of Swayambhunath, the ancient most Buddhist stupa in Kathmandu valley; Patan Durbar Square, one of the medieval palace squares in the valley; Pashupatinath, the most important Hindu temple premises with Hindu cremation site; and Boudhanath, the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world. The day will give you an understanding of the rich cultural, spiritual and historical heritage of Kathmandu valley.
On the second day of Natural hot spring trek, we are driving to Pokhara today. The drive by tourist bus that starts early morning will be more or less 7 hours before we reach Pokhara. Although the drive seems long, it will bring us beautiful scenic landscapes and local towns along the highway. Driving along beautiful glacial rivers, local towns and enjoying greenery and surrounding middle hills is an incredible experience. Pokhara will welcome us with a jaw-dropping view of Annapurna range of the Himalayas, beautiful and peaceful green surroundings and a serene lake.
We are going to experience a wonderful high suspension bridge excursion today while driving to Beni for overnight stay. After driving for about 2.5 hours from Pokhara, we will come to the place where the highest suspension bridge in Nepal is situated over the Kali Gandaki River. We take a break there and go to cross the bridge. It is a fantastic feeling of crossing the bridge with the view of the impressive Kali Gandaki River and the valley. Later, after exploring the bridge and surroundings, we drove to Beni to stay overnight.
Today is the first day of trekking part of the Natural hot spring trek. We are trekking to Tatopani – the hot spring. It’s a long day of trekking but definitely not a difficult walk. The day walk brings us some incredible sightings along the trekking trail that follows Kali Gandaki River valley up north. A long day trek comes to end when we reach Tatopani to settle into a teahouse. Tatopani is the place where the first of two natural hot springs are situated. We will have a full day tomorrow to experience the natural hot spring bath and explore the place.
We take a full day rest here at Tatopani but the day will be full of activities. First of all, we are going to take the first natural hot spring bath experience on the trip. We get ready for the experience and start walking towards the hot spring. We spend quite a good and ideal time in the natural hot spring pool. The refreshing feeling after the bath prepares us for the exploration of the surroundings.
The trek from here to Ghorepani today goes on the proper trekking trail. The day today involves mostly uphill to reach the destination. The first part of the day takes a short downhill to cross a suspension bridge and start on the uphill to Ghorepani. We trek through beautiful cultural villages and pristine natural landscapes. We can enjoy the mesmerizing view of the Himalayan peaks in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range as we traverse the trail up towards Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a popular overnight stopover place for trekkers. Hiking to Poonhill for a panoramic Himalayan view and sunrise from here is one of the highlights of this trip. We settle into the comfort of our teahouse and enjoy the view of mountains and surroundings.
This day is one of the highlight days on a natural hot spring trek. It is an early morning start to hike to Poon Hill. The hike up to 3,210 meters above sea level today will be the highest elevation of the trip. Beautiful nature walk through rhododendron forest takes us to the top of the hill only to expose a breathtaking view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. We will also enjoy a spectacular sunrise. Later, after breakfast at Ghorepani, we embarked on the day trekking adventure to Ghandruk village. We trek past Tadapani and reach the ethnic Gurung village of Ghandruk to stay overnight.
A massively close up view of Himalayan peaks will leave us speechless when we wake up in Ghandruk morning. Our destination for the day walk is Jhinu Danda where we will experience another natural hot spring bath on the bank of Modi Khola that originates from the Annapurna Mountains. Around four hours of walk takes us to Jhinu Danda leaving us with ample time to enjoy the hot spring bath. We walk down to the Modi River bank to enjoy the natural hot spring and return back to Jhinu Danda to stay overnight.
After we have experienced both the natural hot springs, we are trekking to Pothana village today. We have gone through the excitement of watching Himalayan views, sunrise and taking a natural hot spring bath and now the turn is to enjoy two more days of trek through nature. The walk from Jhinu Danda to Pothana involves mostly uphill again but starts definitely with a downhill. Pothana village is perched on the beautiful hills and a famous overnight stopover for trekkers in the region.
We traverse the trail to Phedi today via Dhampus village. The trekking trail is full of natural wonders and brings the wonderful view of Annapurna range as well. Although the first section of the day involves pure nature walk, the second part after Dhampus village is a mixture of nature and culture. We trek down to Phedi and drive to Pokhara for about half an hour.
We drove back to Kathmandu from Pokhara today. About 7 hours of overland journey will take us back to Kathmandu. Once we reach Kathmandu, rest of the time is at leisure. A wonderful wandering around the streets of Thamel and Ason can be a great way to explore amazing Kathmandu.
