Off Beaten Path Trekking Destinations

For those who want to trek to non touristy regions, have authentic experiences. Similarly, they visit unspoiled flora and fauna or experience exotic culture. Nepal has a number of non touristy destinations to take to exceptional views. Similarly, alpine wilderness and cultural encounters in unspoiled villages are the highlights of these trips. As no lodges are available on these routes. All are fully supported camping treks and hence price is a bit higher than in tea house treks.

Off Beaten Path Trekking Destinations

Trekkers can observe the isolated mountain villages of Nepal where people are surviving by growing their own food. People and their cultures in the hilly regions of Nepal are still unaffected by modern civilization, yet they have a quite happy life with their own civilization and Culture. Exploring these areas on the trekking trails gives different pleasures and off the beaten trekking experiences. 1. Rolwaling Trek

Rolwaling Trekking in the north eastern region of Nepal is one of the most challenging treks. This off the beaten path trekking route takes us into the unspoiled Tibetan cultures of the region and outstanding views of the Langtang Range, Jugal Himal and Mt. Gauri Shanker, Mt. Everest and many other mountains of Khumbu region. This trek takes us over one of the extreme alpine passes of Tashi Lapcha which is at an altitude of 5,755 meters above sea level. Being one of the highest and toughest passes of Nepal, crossing this pass requires good physical condition. Rolwaling trekking trail also takes you to the biggest glacier lake of Nepal which is around 4,580 meters.

 Rolwaling Trek

Rolwaling Trekking begins from Dolakha district from where we gradually climb up towards the Tsho Rolpa Lake following the Tamakoshi River and Rolwaling River. The trail passes the village of Shigapati, Bedding and Na to reach the Tsho Rolpa Lake. Observing the outstanding display of ancient Buddhist cultures we head towards the high mountains and glacier. Following the rough mountainous finally reach the most challenging part of our trek, the Tashi Lapcha pass that connects Rolwaling valley with Everest / Khumbu Region.

2. Dudh Kunda Trekking

Dudh Kunda Lake translates to be the milky lake, lies in the Solukhumbu district in Eastern Nepal which is situated at the foot of Numbur Himal. Similarly, this trek is a unique trekking experience in the Khumbu region where we will not be accompanied by other travellers leaving us with less crowded trails with reach to the unspoiled traditional culture and nature. Dudh Kunda lake is believed to be the holy lake where one’s wishes get fulfilled if taken a dip in the pristine water. The trek passes through Rhododendron forests with different species of flora and fauna along with the awe-inspiring views of Numbur Himal, Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse and many other dazzling white peaks. You will also be absolutely amazed by the warm hospitality of the people living in this region. 

3. Dhaulagiri Trekking

This Trekking is a challenging and adventurous trek that rewards you with the nearest view of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m). Moreover, it is the seventh highest mountain of the world. The name “Dhaulagiri” means “white mountain” which justifies a magnificent peak rising as a giant shoulder of shining ice and snow. Dhaulagiri stands above the Kali Gandaki Valley which separates the Dhaulagiri range from the Annapurna massif. Trekking in this region is relatively strenuous and needs some mountaineering knowledge, with some previous experience of trekking and good physical condition.

 Dhaulagiri Trek forms a rare combination of snow- capped mountains, crystal clear lakes and turbulent rivers with deep Georges together with Tibetan monasteries, hot springs and picture square village, all inhabited by simple and friendly people. Dhaulagiri Trekking is one of the best high altitude treks that lead you through very challenging high passes, crossing over French Pass (5,360m) and Dhampus Pass (5,210m). The main destination of Dhaulagiri Trekking is Dhaulagiri Base Camp which blesses us with enthralling views of mountains such as Annapurna, Nilgiri and Tukuche peak. First discovered in 1808, Dhaulagiri was assumed to be the highest mountain in the world for westerners before its place was taken by Mt. Kanchenjunga after 30 years.

4. Bhairav Kunda Trekking

Close to the Nepal – Tibet border northeast of the Kathmandu Valley lies the Bhairav Kunda. At an altitude of 4,240 meters above Sea Level, Bhairav Kunda is named after the destructive title of lord Shiva. This pristine pond is also a religious site which sees many pilgrims in August during the full moon. Filled with incredible landscapes and unique culture with not many people to disturb your private space. Bhairav Kunda trek offers you the remarkable views of various mountain ranges. That includes Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), Madiya (6,257m),Jugal Himal, Phurbi Ghhyachu (6,637m) and many more. 5. Panch Pokhari Trekking

Being the 9th highest altitude wetland in the world. Panch Pokhari Trekking is an easy trek in the Sindhupalchowk District of Nepal that takes you to the group of 5 sacred ponds. During Panch Pokhari trek you will have outstanding views. Moreover, Gauri Shanker, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Himalayan range, Rolwaling Himalayan range and many more. Panch Pokhari Trekking

Panch Pokhari trekking trail follows a ridge mostly during the trek resulting in constant rise in altitude over a quick period of time. Walking through the Rhododendron forests passing waterfalls we climb onto Narsim Pati via Sano Okhreni and Kami Kharkha. Trekking for 5 days through the paddy fields we pass through the beautiful settlements inhabited by the Sherpa community.
