Anisha Rauniyar May 7, 2020

Located in the northwest of Nepal at an altitude of 3,840 feet, Mustang is one of the several environmentally untouched areas in Nepal. You can see the Annapurna Ranges and Nilgiri Himal extending through the northern portion. It is split into two parts: Upper Mustang and Lower Mustang.

Upper Mustang Nepal is renowned for adventurous trekking, while lower Mustang is famed for its stunning natural scenery. In the trans-Himalayan region, Upper Mustang is cooler and semi-arid.

Here is the list of products that Mustang offers:

Mustang is situated in the northernmost part of the nation and is abundant with natural foliage. You’ll be able to see a tiny part of the tropical alpine and coniferous trees in Mustang. Spectacular apple fields and rhododendron woods make this area more spectacular. Likewise, you can see hillsides fully lined with beautiful red and pink rhododendrons. Upper Mustang trek offers a chance to explore the thousands of years old monasteries, caves, local tribes, and scenic beauties of the different landscapes.

The position of Mustang in the shadow regions of the Annapurna and Nilgiri mountain ranges creates a rare climate that resembles a cold desert. It’s high altitude and its relation to the Tibetan plateau causes strong wind to fly during the day. However, the rocky highlands make the location suitable for rock climbing.

The heavy rivers of the Kali Gandaki River, which derive from Mustang, have created the Dana Gorge, the deepest gorge in the country. The river runs across the rugged soil and the highlands of Mustang and runs south of the nation. The gorge is another big draw in Nepal.

Mustang is popular for action sports such as running, mountain climbing, trekking, horse racing and horse riding. The geological composition of Mustang is comprise of highlands and lowlands with plains, which render it ideal for mountain biking and trekking. Thanks to the shortage of adequate transport services, villagers are breeding horses in their homes for transport purposes.

There are many picturesque valleys in the Mustang district, such as Jomsom, Kagbeni and Lo Manthang. In reality, Jomsom was originally an administrative and commercial center with government offices and merchants. In the same direction, Kagbeni is a village in Upper Mustang that lies near the junction with the road to Muktinath, and Lo Manthang is in Upper Mustang, renowned for adventurous trekking.

Since this location sits in the northern part of the country, it has some of the tallest mountains in the world. You can see panoramic views of Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m) and other hills, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Nilgiri Himal (7061 m).

In the lowlands, you can mainly see Gurungs and Manangis in the east, although there are more Tibetans in the north, and Thakalis in Jomsom. All these groups have their own ancient customs, beliefs and behaviors that render this whole area exceptionally rich in culture. Any aspect of this area will impress you with its own activities that you might not have seen before, and that makes Mustang more adventurous.

Mustang Nepal is situate at a high altitude surrounded by snow-cap mountains all around it, rendering the conditions ideal for snowfall. In the winter season, you can see the area coated with dense blankets of snow.

Thakali, one of the most popular food in the world, originated in Mustang. You will find a few Thakali Bhansa (restaurants) all over the world, but this area will offer you its authentic edition. Besides this, Mustang is also for its tasty apples and products such as brandy, wine and dry goods. The Tiji Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Mustang. It is the largest celebration among Tibetan Buddhists. People live here have their own style of life and activities that may appear to be very strange and shocking to outsiders.

Muktinath Temple is one of the most important pilgrimage locations for Hindus and Buddhists. The road goes through several archeological sites and temples. 108 water taps and a constant flickering fire are the key features of this temple.

The perfect time to visit Mustang is between March because June, and the conditions here can be rough over the next few months.
