Historical Tanahunsur Trek

Historical Tanahunsur Trek provides you with the opportunity to explore the rural lifestyle of the local people around the place. You can also be able to view the unspoiled ethnic lifestyle, culture and tradition as well as the excellent panoramic views of the Himalayas. Tanahunsur is a village development committee in Tanahun District in the Gandaki Zone of central Nepal. Thus, named after Tanahun district, it is a newly launched non touristic village. You can have spectacular views of Mt. Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung and Manaslu ranges. It mainly denotes the hill and the people living over there in the central part of Tanahun. We can still observe approximately 200 years old Sen.Dynasty’s old palace area, temples, three canons which is believed to be the birthplace of Prithivi Narayan Shah’s mother. Tanahunsur Durbar (Palace) is believed to be 1,460 years old.

You can also see the palaces where our king used to live before. One can also explore the temple of Goddess Khadga Kali (symbol of destruction of devils). GaddiChautara and Rani Chautara (place to take rest while walking up and down in the villages). DhikuriGhar and Gola Ghar, Tudikhel, Haddi badhne Dhunga (stone to tie elephant), Raja kopadhero etc. This trek takes you to the culturally unique village which offers an amazing view of the Himalayas and unspoiled lifestyle.

You will get an opportunity to get along with the local people. Moreover, you can enjoy the foods made by them which are basically organic. There are different races of people such as Newar, Magar, Brahmin, Chhetri, Damain, Sarki, Kasain. Similarly, you can see them following different customs, traditions and beliefs. You can join with locals by dancing and singing. You can also observe their famous Chutka dance which is performed on special occasions.

It will be worth visiting the local school, traditional wood work shop, bamboo workshop etc. This Tanahunsur village tour gives the chance to see the rural life. This is true microcosm of stunning natural beauty mixed with an unspoiled ethnic lifestyle. Similarly, the inhabitants of this village are mostly Magar, Newar and some deprived community. Day 1 Cultural Tour in Kathmandu

You will have a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley which takes in the key attractions in and around Kathmandu. Including AM: Visit 2000 years old Buddhist shrine Swayambhunath, situated on the top of the hill west of the city the most popular and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. The temple is colloquially known as the “Monkey Temple”. There are many small buildings and shrines down the hillside behind Swayambhunath. 

Explore the colorful Kathmandu Durbar Square – The Old Royal Palace of Kathmandu, Temple of living goddess Kumari, the Jagannath temple, and 17th century temple known for colorfully painted erotic carvings, Kasthmandap temple a three story temple built from a single tree in 12th century. Visit Pashupatinath temple, one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the World. The holy river Bagmati and the burning Ghats and also visit one of the oldest and biggest stupa of Boudhanath.   

Day 2 Drive to Tanahunsur

After breakfast, drive 160 km north-west of Kathmandu valley towards Tanahunsur village by private ac vehicle. It can be reached by private or public transport with approximately 6 hours drive. At the first part, you will pass by Chundivillage where you can enjoy the seasonal crops. It offers a Manaslu peak view and mostly green lush valleys of Chundi River. Once you reach Tanahunsur, get refreshed and explore around the village.You will be fascinated by the landscapes, charming hill of Tanahunsur and culturally rich area. Tanah Unsur is enriched with pleasant scenic beauty, gigantic landscapes and historical places and evidence.

Efforts are needed to develop tourism in this naturally,historically and culturally rich area. Visit local people to see their livelihood, culture, tradition and visit local government schools. Moreover, this village gives a stunning view of snow capped mountains, terrace farming, green forest with welcoming Magar community. You can also visit the local school and enjoy nature. In the evening, enjoy cultural programs with local organic food. Dinner will be prepared by the local people and served at a local house.

Day 3 Hike to ViewPoint

Early morning wake up and hike to the viewpoint to enjoy the Himalayan view, lush green hills, river valley and many more. See the sunrise and panorama of the Himalaya. The Himalayas can be seen towards the north including Manaslu, Annapurna, Lamjung, and other. Similarly, there are two peaks at the top of Tanahunsur. You can also take this morning as a bird watching or visit local villagers’ workplace and around. Get back to home and have a breakfast. Take some rest and explore the village and historical places. Evening, local will perform the cultural dancing and singing program. You can join with locals for singing and dancing. Evening dinner and night rest at home.

Day 4 Drive to Bandipur

Today, after breakfast, I hiked down to GhasiKuwa and then drove to Bandipur. Bandipur is considered as the Hill queen, giving stunning views of the Himalayan range like; Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and many more. Here you will also visit the historical town, nominated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Thanimai temple.

Day 5 Explore Bandipur

In the early morning, explore the old bazaar. After breakfast, hike to Ramkot village. This place commands a superb breathtaking view, including panoramic view of the mountains in the north like Mt. Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu ranges and many more smaller. You will be free in the evening, so just stroll around the place.

Bandipur, a hilltop settlement in Tanahaun is also a perfect destination for admiring the splendor of sunrise and sunset. Similarly, the glory of Sarangkot is not hidden from anyone. The picturesque city of lakes down below and the awe inspiring mountains above. Similarly, the combination is garnished by the mind blowing sunrise and sunset view amidst the towering peaks of mountains like Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Fishtail, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri and many more. Come and feel the pleasure in watching the sunrise and sunset in Nepal.   One can enjoy the incredible views of the almighty Mt. Everest from the station along with several other mountains and peaks. This is also best to look back to Kathmandu valley with panoramic views.   

Day 6 Drive to Kathmandu

On the last day of our journey, you will have your breakfast at Bandipur and then drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. Evening will be leisure or free for shopping or other personal activities.
