The Dumji Festival celebrates and respects the commemoration of Guru Rinpoche birth on the lotus blossom. Lama Sangwa Dorji is the author of the soonest cloister of Khumbu and he was the first to begin the Dumji celebration in Pangboche around 365 years prior so as to agree with the birth commemoration of Guru Rinpoche. The celebration fills in as a strict and network obligation to help unite the locals. At regular intervals it falls upon three families to give food and drink to the whole town for the term of festivities, which goes on for 4 days.

Dumji festival celebration is performed by the Tengboche Monks in Tengboche, Namche Bazar, Khumjung and Pangboche of Khumbu, and Junbesi of Solu. The celebration in Namche is the most fascinating and mainstream one among them all. These dates may fluctuate by at least one days as the Tengboche Rinpoche, abbot of Tengboche Monastery.

It is commended in all the Sherpaa settlements in the long stretch of July. The Sherpas of Kathmandu and Helambu districts partake in moving on this day. For the most part, there are no such significant celebrations in this month. Being the stormy season, this month is the pinnacle time for gathering crops.This is an extremely exceptional celebration in the Khumbu region celebrated in the period of July consistently.
