Annapurna Combination Trek

Located within the Annapurna Mountain Range in north-central Nepal. The Annapurna Combination Trek is one of the more popular treks in the country, ranging from around 160 kilometers to as much as 230 kilometers. This hard level trek takes a route around the Annapurna Massif, which contains around 30 peaks, including one over 8,000 meters. A trek that takes around 15-20 days, depending on where you decide to start the hiking section, and many people drive further into the area past Pokhara to start the trek closer to Besisahar.

At its highest point, the normal trek reaches an altitude of 5,416 meters, at the Thorung La Pass, and reaches more than 4,800 meters along the normal trails. After the circuitous route, passing through Manang, Muktinath, and Ghorepani, the trek finally ends at Birethanti, where most people get a car or bus back to Pokhara. The Annapurna Circuit Trek is another trek that has lodges and teahouses along its entire route as the main form of accommodation, though camping is often the norm in the peak season. You will also find local dishes available in the teahouses for a low price, which makes for a good nutritious meal.

Annapurna Combination Trek (Trip) begins with thrilling white water rafting in Trishuli River; one of the most popular and demanding rafting rivers in Nepal suitable for all kinds of paddlers. At the beginning of the journey you will board a raft and set off on a leisurely floating trip down the Trisuli. During your rafting trip you also can see some of the Birds like (Kingfishers, chats and egrets) as well as Langur and Rhesus monkeys seen.

About the Annapurna Combination Trek

In order to witness the beauty of some of the highest peaks of the world, you will trek around the Annapurna Region, a majestic section of the Himalayas in Nepal. This trek not only offers the breathtaking view of the mountains but also allows you to know about the Gurung and Magar community living in Annapurna region while you  walk through the colorful rhododendron forests. Ghorepani poonhill trek is a good trekking trail, makes it easy relaxed while walking, there is no altitude problem. In the morning sunrise hike to Poon hill is fantastic panoramic Himalayan views of three 8000 + meter peaks of mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu.

After having a good time on the mountain you will arrive at a rusty jungle lodge where we will be spending a couple of days. During your jungle safari activities like canoe ride, bird watching, jungle walk, elephant back safari etc, you can see different wild animals including one horned rhinoceros, crocodile, deer, monkey, sloth bear and a variety of birds (over 300 species). If you are lucky you may see Royal Bengal tiger and a leopard as well.

Furthermore, this trip is the combination of both harmony and wilderness of nature. One can achieve all aspects of the beautiful nature in this one trip. However, the person has to be in their perfect physical and mental state to experience the whole fun of this trip. 

Day 1 Drive to Pokhara via Rafting

After an early breakfast, you will drive to the rafting starting point where you will begin rafting for about two to three hours on exhilarating rapids. Then, you will  drive to the city of Pokhara to get the chance to view the natural beauty of this area.

Day 2 Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Ulleri

This day you will begin your drive to Nayapul which is approximately 40 k.m. from Pokhara. The drive will take around 1 hour 30 min after which you will begin your trek. The first part of the trail takes us to Birethati where you will check in your ACAP permit and TIMS. You will then cross the river at Birethati and head left along the gentle slope to Tikhedhunga where you will again cross the BhurungdiKhola River on two suspension bridges. After crossing the river you will start the steep climb to Ulleri where you will be spending the night. 

Day 3 Trek to Ghorepani

From Tikhedhunga the trail crosses a stream on a suspension bridge near the campsite at Tikhedhunga. The trail ascends a steep stone staircase (which has about 3300 steps) to the large Magar village of Ulleri at 2080m. Above the village, the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. The trail crosses two beautiful and clear streams before making a short and final climb to the Nangethanti. Thanthi is the Nepali word meaning ”rest house”. During the winter season you can experience the trail covered with the white and soft snow. From Nangethanti you will continue your climb towards the Ghorepani at 2850 metres from here you can indulge yourself in the spectacular panoramic views of Dhaulagiri I, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Himchuli and more.

Day 4 Ghorepani to Chule via Tadapani

Your guide will check the weather forecast and let you know the sunrise time. You will hike up to Poonhill early in the morning and return back to the tea house for breakfast. The sunrise from Ghorepani is said to be one of the best sunrise as the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu Himalayan Range. In which it includes Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Barahi Shikhar, Machhapuchhre offer breathtaking views.

After breakfast you will continue trekking towards Chuile. The first part of the trek is an ascend to Thabala Hill from where you will observe magnificent views of the Himalayas. You will then descend down to Deurali where you will  pass through a few teahouses and continue towards Banthanti. Here you will have our lunch. The trail then is a descend to a river from where you will again have to climb up to Tadapani from where you will take a left towards Chule.

Day 5 Chule to Ghandruk

From Chule the trail descends through forests to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a village of Gurung people, one of the ethnic groups of Nepal; they have their own dialect, culture, costume, and lifestyle. Ghandruk is also home to many Gurkha soldiers. It is a famous destination for trekkers as it is known for its beautiful mountain views and within easy reach from Pokhara and Kathmandu. You will have the afternoon to visit the Annapurna conservation office, Museum and explore the village.

Day 6 Trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara

After breakfast you will start a long steep descend towards Shauli Bazaar (1,140m). Once you  reach Shauli Bazaar the trail is wide and moves along the Modi Khola riverbank upto Birethanti. Birethanti is a beautiful riverside village that is usually busy with many trekkers starting and finishing their treks. After your Lunch at Birethanti you will head towards Nayapul from where you will drive to Pokhara ending your trek. The evening is at leisure. There are many good restaurants to relax and many local shops for shopping. 

Day 7 Drive to Chitwan National Park from Pokhara

Today you will head towards Chitwan. After your breakfast at the Hotel you will begin your drive which will take 4 to 5 hours. Once you arrive at Chitwan, a short briefing is made regarding your stay in Chitwan. After Lunch, you will visit Tharu village. Tharu are the local people living in Chitwan area for a long period of time. Then you will head towards Tharu Cultural museum where you will know more about the history of the Tharu people followed by a walk to the Rapti River Bank to observe the spectacular sunset. Return back to hotel for Dinner and head to Tharu Stick Dance programme to observe outstanding display of Dance with sticks by Tharu people.

Day 8 In Chitwan National Park

Today you will be having remaining wildlife activities. After breakfast you will head out for Dog-out canoeing followed by a short jungle hike that takes you to elephant breeding centre. You will spend some time in the Breeding centre and return back to the hotel for Lunch. After that you will head to Rapti River to witness elephant baths. You can also join the elephant while it is bathing which is a great experience. After that you will go on elephant safari where you will be on elephants back exploring the Chitwan National Park furthermore. Return back to the hotel. Remaining time is free for refreshments.

Day 9 Drive back to Kathmandu Valley

It is your last day at Chitwan allowing you to enter the National Park for bird watching sessions. A wildlife Guide will lead you to the Jungle to see some of the birds around the National Park. You will then return back to the Hotel for Breakfast. After breakfast you will drive back to Kathmandu valley.
