Bhaktapur City is among the major cities of Kathmandu Valley. This city has preserved its some of the ancient living llife styles. There are several temples around the city which are build on the pagoda style. The city celebrates lots of festivals on those small streets of the city. The Bhakatapur Durbar Square is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the valley.

Like the changes occuring in the other cities of kathmandu valley, Bhaktapur is also geting modernized. Even though lots of womens still prefer to wear thier traditional dress. Pottery, farming, singing in the temples and making traditional foods are still found there. Once the city was known as Bhadgaon (Nepali) and Khwopa (Newari). The Bhaktapur city has maintained its festivals in their original elaborate forms, many of which last over a week. Many traditional and national events are carried out in this city.  There are also very famous and well known ponds in this city. They are

  • Kamal Pokhari
  • Sidhha Pokhari
  • Rani Pukhu
  • Bhajya Pukhu
  • Na Pukhu

There are hundreds of things which can be a new experince for the new visitors. The culture, food, life style, events are very amaizing.

Geting there: There are 3 ways to get from Kathmandu to Bhaktapur by bus, car or by foot.
