Everest is the ultimate glory to the mountaineers from all over the world. There are around 326 climbing peaks in the country for the visitors to enjoy this daring outdoor activity. Nepal is the country with the most beautiful formidable mountain range in the world with nearly one third of the country being above the elevation of 3500 m from the sea level. Nepal offers mountaineers more opportunities with the varieties of mountain ranges to climb in the world.

HISTORY

Mountaineering history goes back to the period where British were lured by the lofty peaks of Nepal. They become outraged with the challenge to climb the virgin peaks of the country in which no human feet had set before. The first time Mt. Everest was climbed by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa on 29 May 1953 AD. Most of the mountaineers would not dare to climb the mountains with the help of the loyal, hardy and extremely reliable Sherpas. The mountaineering and trekking industry was well established by 1960  which provided all logistics including porters and guides for the mountaineers.

The mountaineers have to be in perfect physical and mental state to climb the mountains. Most of the mountaineers are interested in mountains like Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu  and Kanchenjunga but there are other ranges also which are very famous for trekking and climbing such as Lhotse, Ama Dablam , Mera  and Yala peaks. The best time for mountaineering is pre-monsoon weather when the climate is especially better at the altitude but the views might be restricted due to pending monsoons. Autumn season is good for the slightly lower peaks. The mountaineers are suggested not to plan their trip during winter as the days are short and there might be snow storms. But nowadays it is impossible to predict the climate due to global warming and climate change.

It is possible for any mountaineers to climb the mountains of Nepal by booking the trip with  the commercial expeditions who have followed or read the appropriate policies and procedures required under the current Nepal Tourism act relating to mountaineering.
