Nepal is just the right country for high spirited and energetic people seeking thrills and adventures in their boring life. Mountain biking in Nepal allows bikers to go up higher for the better view of the Himalayan ranges. The cool air of the mountain rejuvenates the tired mind, body and soul. It gives the bikers the feel of achievements as they arrive on the top of the mountain and hills. The mountains of Nepal are the extreme challenges to the bikers as the terrain is rough and narrow with the thin mountain air. The bikers need to be at a high fitness level for mountain biking.

History of Mountain Biking

The valid history of this sport takes us back to the late 1970 where several groups of riders in different areas of the United States attempted this sport. The riders from Crested Butte, Colorado, Cupertino and California went on an off road biking with their modified heavy cruiser bicycles. Throughout the 1990s and the first decade of the 21st century, it became the mainstream activity.

It allows the bikers to encounter pristine glacial lakes and proximity of the Himalayan mountains. The popular destinations of mountain biking for the beginners are Bhaktapur, Sankhu, Budhanilkantha, Nagarkot, Khokana, Dakshinkali, Godavari and Pokhara. The bikers who are experienced and hard core bikers can ride through the Himalayas up to the northern border of Nepal. The best mountain biking trails in Nepal are Kathmandu valley 1 to 14 days,  Pokhara to Kathmandu 7 to 12 days, Annapurna circuit 11+ days, Mustang 5 to 10 days and Lower Everest region 5+ days.  The ride takes you through the green rice fields, hills, river banks, over suspension bridges and along highways. Bikers can enjoy the true beauty of Nepal and explore the interesting sites of Nepal. Every year Mountain biking championships are held in Kathmandu and Pokhara where tourists from all around the world are invited to participate.

We can get to know the real Nepal through one of the most enjoyable sports of biking. We can experience this sport through different commercial expeditions that have followed the rules and regulations under the current Nepal Tourism Act.
