The Dumji Festival celebrates and respects the commemoration of Guru Rinpoche birth on the lotus blossom. Lama Sangwa Dorji is the author of the soonest cloister of Khumbu and he was the first to begin the Dumji celebration in Pangboche around 365 years prior so as to agree with the birth commemoration of Guru Rinpoche. The celebration fills in as a strict and network obligation to help unite the locals. At regular intervals it falls upon three families to give food and drink to the whole town for the term of festivities, which goes on for 4 days.
Dumji festival celebration is performed by the Tengboche Monks in Tengboche, Namche Bazar, Khumjung and Pangboche of Khumbu, and Junbesi of Solu.
