Devghat

Devghat is one of the pilgrimage sites of Nepal. It lies in the central part of Nepal and is located at the tricentre of Tanahun, Chitwan and Nawalparasi. This place is the junction of Narayani, Lumbini and Gandaki zones where the area it covers is 54.34 sq.km

Devghat is one of the holiest places and each year many people gather here on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. This place is where river Gandaki all the way from Muktinath comes to visit Trishuli river from Gosainkunda.

According to Census 2011, the population recorded was 16478.

Geography

There exists many tropical and sub-tropical plants & herbs with different kinds of birds, animals and beautiful creatures.

Climate

Devghat has a warm climate with an annual average temperature of 23.9 degree celsius. During Summer the temperature reaches up to 29 degrees Celsius where in winter it falls down to 15 degrees celsius and the warmest month is May and January as the coldest. Also, December is the driest month in Devghat.

Devghat Culture

Most of the people living here follow Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and few follow other religions. Brahmin, Chhetri, Magar, Tamang, Rai, Limbu, etc are some of the ones who live here. The residents here mainly follow festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Chaitey Dashian. And every year thousands of people visit Devghat to celebrate festivals on the occasion of Makar Sankranti (Maghe Sankranti).

To get to Devghat

The distance from Kathmandu to Devghat is around 253.1 km which will probably take eight and half hours by bus through Prithvi Highway. We can also reach there through the airway. A daily flight from Kathmandu to Devghat airport is accessible. This will take 34-40 minutes. It is the easiest way to reach the spot. To make the journey interesting, you can go to Pokhara first by bus. Then to Devghat on a bus or hire a jeep.

Places of interest

1) Devghat Dham

This place is a religious site which is on the riverside. Every year a huge festival is celebrated among a huge mass of people. And it is on the day of Maghe Sankranti where(Devghat Mela) many people from outside the country also visit.

2) Lamo Jharana

Lamo Jharana 15 minutes away from Jalbire Temple and many people come to enjoy the natural waterfall. With a huge waterfall in between the jungle and rich in vegetation, people feel refreshed. And has a perfect scenery of clean waterfalls, birds and green hills.
