Barahi Jungle Lodge, Chitwan

Barahi Jungle Lodge provides visitors with the perfect alternative to the Chitwan National Park lodges that once served within. The lodge is situated on the banks of the Rapti River, and the rooms are housed in thatched cottages built with materials used by Tharus, an indigenous tribe of the area, in the building of their traditional huts. Each space features a private veranda / balcony and unrestricted views of both the national park and the water.

The lodge experience is very personalised. The workers are well educated to courteous to make sure visitors’ needs are fulfilled. I spent the last year at the lodge with bloggers from India for two days. They were impressed by the quality of service offered by staff at the lodge. Apart from the service, they also loved the lodge’s jungle safari. The lodge provides a host of other enjoyable activities to do — from sailing a river canoe to sailing a bullock cart to a nearby village.

But the lodge’s most noteworthy feature has to be its sundown rendezvous. A canoe ride from the lodge to the confluence of two rivers starts the activity: Rapti and Narayani. There, visitors are provided with a bbq and cocktails. Barahi Jungle Lodge really is a blend of luxury and nature.
